Fairleigh Dickinson’s number one singles player for three years (1969-71) and two-year team captain, Warren Lucas posted a 35-1 career record. As a sophomore, he finished the season with a perfect 12-0 mark as he led the Knights to an 11-1 dual match record. Lucas also captured the Eastern Intercollegiate singles championship and the Rider Invitational title, losing one set the entire season. During his junior campaign, he went 9-1 in singles play, earning FDU’s Most Outstanding Male Athlete honor, as the team also went 9-1 in dual matches and won the Rider Invitational team title. Lucas was again the Eastern Intercollegiate singles champion as a senior and was 14-0 to finish out his career as a senior. In 1973, at the age of 24, he was named Head Coach of the men’s program and one year later he took over the women’s team.
