Meaghan Pizzo captained the women’s basketball team in both junior and senior seasons. The consummate team leader, she captained the team to a two-year 38-18 (23-6 and 15-12, respectively and a 67.9 win percentage) when the team won its second NEC Tournament title (1992) and a share of the programs first ever regular season Championship (1993). The 38-18 is the best two-year record and win percentage in program Div. I history. She played in every game, but one, over the final three years of her career 82 of 83 games and started over 50 percent of the time. Standing 5-8 played all three front-court positions. As a tenacious defender she always drew the toughest match-ups. She finished her career with 666 points and 406 rebound but averaged better than 8.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg over her final two seasons. As a senior she ranked in the top four in every statistical category (points 4th, rebounds 3rd, assists 2nd, blocks 4th, steals 2nd). She also finished with 226 career assists, second on the team in assists as both a junior (73 – ranked 11th in the NEC) and senior (86),86 in her senior season was just 2 less than the team’s point guard. In NEC Play she captained the team to a 27-7 record in her junior and senior years which is the best two-year record by FDU in NEC play. She averaged nearly 8.0 ppg and 5.5 rpg and had a career-high 20 point game v. St. Francis NY as a junior.
