Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and former University of Connecticut men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun received the 2016 Al LoBalbo Award. Calhoun was a collegiate head coach for 40 years starting at Northeastern University and then finishing his career with 26-years at UConn. Calhoun turned the Huskies into a national power by winning 625 games and three NCAA National Championships. UConn also won a NIT National Championship and 17 Big East regular season and tournament titles. The legendary coach was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.
