FDU Hall of Fame
A beloved figure on the diamond, former baseball head coach John Orsino will be posthumously inducted into the Knights' Hall of Fame. Amassing 125 wins in eight seasons ('70-'76, '80) as the program's head coach, Orsino led the Knights squad to a .500 or better record in five-consecutive seasons from 1972-76. During that stretch, Orsino's Knights finished with 20 or more wins three times. In 1974, Orsino led the Knights to a 22-9 record, a .710 winning percentage, which is the highest mark in program history for a season of at least 25 games played. He led the Knights to a combined 62-39-1 record across the 1973-75 seasons, including an impressive 35-12 mark in the Metro Conference. His best season resulted in 23 victories and a 12-4 conference record. Orsino coached Steve Dembowski, Bob Droste, Lou Turco, Joe Rigoli and Tom Gattoni, who are all members of the hall of fame.
