University Basketball Most Improved Player Award. He was an FDU Scholar Athlete and made the Academic All-American Basketball First Team. Jay Jorgensen was also a two-time NJ All-University Team selection and Fairleigh Dickinson University both 1977 and 1978, and a six-time winner of the Player of the Week ECAC Division I Award. In addition, he was a participant in the University's Honors program for history and inducted into Phi Alpha Theta, a national history honor society. Jorgensen is a recipient of the NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship Award and first recipient of the NJ Coaches Association Post-Graduate Scholarship Award. He made the Dean's List Academic Honor Roll all eight semesters.

Player Statistics:

Jorgensen finished his career 3rd on the all-time scoring list with 1,088 points, second all-time in free throws made with 352 and a career free throw percentage of .815. He also graduated with the most games played in a career (94). His free throw percentage in 1977-78 was in the Top 25 in the nation.
