An inaugural member of Fairleigh Dickinson University's Division I Athletics Hall of Fame, Franklin Jacobs '80 was one of the most prolific track and field athletes in FDU history. Standing just 5'8", Jacobs stunned the world at the 1978 Millrose Games when he set the world indoor high jump record at Madison Square Garden with a jump of 7'7. 25". Jacobs was a three-time NCAA Champion in the high jump and was one of the United States' brightest hopes to bring home a gold medal heading into the 1980 Olympics. Additionally, he holds the Guinness Book of World Records for jumping 23 and three-quarter inches above his head.
