In his final year, Bachmann helped break the record in the mile relay.  During his junior and senior season, Bachmann captained the squad.  He captured the Collegiate Track Conference Championship in the 100 and 220 yard dashes.  In 1965, he won the 220 at the Metropolitan Championships.  Also in 1965, Bachmann went undefeated in both the 100 and 220 in dual meets.  He turned in personal records of 9.7 in the 100, 21.2 in the 220 and 47.8 in the 440.
