The 1977 Fairleigh Dickinson University men's cross country team is one of the most accomplished groups to ever wear the Burgundy and Blue. The team, which was featured on the cover of National Cross Country Magazine, dominated to the tune of a 12-1 dual-meet record and captured four major championships along the way including the Metropolitan and IC4A University Division crowns.

Freshman Paul Steeds highlighted the talented roster by winning the New Jersey Championship, IC4A University Division title and the Collegiate Track Conference crown. Along with standout teammates Edward Brennan, Paul Marzan and Barry Nelson, Steeds helped the Burgundy and Blue win four events and post one second-place finish on the season. Steeds led the way with a 24:17 at the 4.75-mile Garret Mountain course and a 25:03.8 IC4A time at the five-mile Van Courtlandt Park. At the 1977 IC4A's, Marzan and Brennan logged 25:06.4 and 25:06.8, respectively.
