Fencing standout Madeline Miyamoto '63, one of the top fencers in Fairleigh Dickinson University history, became just the second FDU fencer to win an individual NCAA Fencing Championship. As a freshman in 1960, Miyamoto won the NCAA Individual Fencing Championship and helped to its first ever National Team Championship with a perfect 13-0 record. She helped FDU to back-to-back national runner-up finishes as a sophomore and junior. In 1963, FDU won its second National Championship in four years behind the fencing of Miyamoto, who as a senior, became the first and the only FDU fencer to win two Individual National Championships.
