An Inaugural member of Fairleigh Dickinson University's Division I Athletics Hall of Fame, Karl Harz '72 was a multi-talented, multi-dimensional athlete who starred for the Knights in the late '60s and early '70s. A nationally ranked Dec-athlete while a student-athlete at the Teaneck campus, Harz routinely set, broke and re-set FDU scoring records. In just his second year competing for the FDU track and field squad, Harz totaled 31 points in the dual meet to set the individual meet scoring record for the Knights and he finished his career by totaling over 400 points. Harz highlighted his FDU career by earning the school's Outstanding Male Athlete Award as a junior (1970-71) and a senior (1971-72). He was the 1972 National AAU Decathlon Champion and only an injury prevented him from a berth on the 1972 Olympic team.
