FDU Hall of Fame
The 2001 men's soccer team, under the direction of Seth Roland, is considered by many to be one of the greatest teams ever to represent FDU. The Knights finished the season with a record of 17-7 overall, which equals the most single-season wins in program history. FDU posted a 7-1 record at home and a 5-2 mark in overtime games. The Knights earned an 8-2 mark in Northeast Conference regular season play en route to capturing a share of the regular season NEC title. The team secured its second of four consecutive NEC Tournament championships by virtue of a 2-1 quadruple-overtime victory over Long Island University to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. In the NCAA Tournament FDU created an impressive run with wins over Boston College (1-0, 3OT), Princeton (2-1) and Seton Hall (1-0), before falling in the Elite Eight to eventual national champion North Carolina in a heartbreaking 3-2 triple-overtime loss.
