Weinstein lead the team in scoring during his sophomore and senior seasons, averaging 14.3 and 16.5 points per game, respectively. Weinstein was also a solid rebounder as he averaged 6.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore, 7.1 as a junior and led the team as a senior with 8.6 rebounds per game. As team captain during his senior campaign he helped the Al LoBalbo-coached Knights to a No. 1 national ranking in defense.  Weinstein was a two-time ECAC weekly All-East Team selection as a senior. Upon graduation, he was the No. 1 draft choice into the Eastern League by the Trenton Pat Pavers. The following year he attended the New York Knicks training camp and was the final cut. Weinstein was then select to play for the USA-touring basketball team in Europe for three years.
