One of the most successful pitchers in program history, Mike Mongiello won 16 games for the Knights in just three years, a mark that ranks fifth all-time. In those three years, Mongiello dominated opposing batters, recording 204 career strikeouts.

As a sophomore he tied program records with eight wins and seven complete games, earning Fairleigh Dickinson's Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year award. He was also named New Jersey Baseball Writers Pitcher of the Year and Northeast Conference Player of the Year.

Following his junior year the Chicago White Sox drafted him in the seventh round. Mongiello played eight seasons in the White Sox' minor league system, spending the final three years with their Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sound.
