Tom Gattoni led the Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team from 1976 to 1979. Over the course of his four year career, in which he started every game (134) for the Knights, he became the most prolific power hitter in school history.  The career leader in home runs (36) and runs batted in (164), he ranks among the programs all-time top ten in four other statistical categories: hits (3rd – 197); batting average (T 3rd - .365); at bats (7th – 537); and runs (7th – 119).   As a career .365 hitter he had a breakout senior year hitting a single season best .402 in 132 at bats (53 hits).  He ranks 5th and tied for 10th on the single season home run list hitting 12 and nine, respectively in 1976 and 1977. He ranks tied for 5th, 6th and 10th all-time on the single season RBI list with 46 (1979), 45 (1977) and 41 (1976).


With Gattoni terrorizing opposing pitching the Knights compiled a four year record of 71-64 and a 35-25 mark in the Metro Conference.
