Brian Romero served as a center midfielder for the Fairleigh Dickinson University men’s soccer team from 1998 to 2001.   Considered by many to be one of the toughest players to ever done an FDU soccer jersey, Romero was a leader by example.  Over the course of his four year career he helped the Knights to a 47-31-7 overall record which included captaining the team to a 30-15-1 mark in his final two seasons.  As a senior, Romero captained the Knights to a 17-7 overall mark that included an 8-2 NEC record and a 2-1 quadruple overtime victory over LIU in the NEC Tournament Championship.  For his efforts, Romero was recognized as the NEC Tournament MVP en route to leading the Knights to the NCAA Tournament and victories over Boston College (1-0 3ot), Princeton (2-1) and Seton Hall (1-0) before falling to eventual national champions North Carolina in triple overtime in the Elite Eight.

Romero’s impact on the Knights was immediate as in his freshman season he led the team in points (15) and goals (6) en route to earning second team all-NEC honors.  He was again tabbed with second team all-conference honors as a junior in 2000.
