    Benefactor

Mary Kay Mastronardy Stratis, a member of the Class of l969, has been a generous benefactor to the University for 30 years.

While a student at Rutherford, she met and eventually married Elia Stratis, the first Fairleigh Dickinson graduate to serve as a voting member of the Board of Trustees. On frequent business trips overseas, Elia helped to recruit students, but it was Mary Kay who became a surrogate mother to many of those same students, including two South African students who were budding track stars.

In 1988, Elia was taken from his family and his University, a victim of the bombing of PanAm Flight 103. Mary Kay devoted her energy to preserving Elia's memory and continuing the work he began on behalf of their alma mater. Her leadership created the Elia G. Stratis Endowed Scholarship, one of the largest endowed scholarships at the University, dedicated to either an accounting student or a track and field athlete.

In recent years, she contributed to the refurbishment of the Stratis Lounge. Mary Kay serves as a Trustee advocate for student- athletes, as well as a member of the Athletic Advisory Council.
