Box Score TEANECK, N.J. – FDU women's lacrosse (0-1, 0-0) opened their season with a 12-8 loss to Rider (1-0, 0-0) on Friday afternoon.
Jenny Spencer recorded her first career hat-trick to lead the Knights at University Stadium.
Spencer began her junior campaign in a big way, totaling three goals and one assists. It marks a career-high in both goals and points. She took four shots, placing all of them on target.
It took just over two minutes for FDU to score their first goal of the season.
Nora Codianni did the honors and gave her team a 1-0 advantage. Rider scored the next four goals, before FDU answered with two before the period ended. The Broncs created slight separation in the second quarter, as they outscored FDU 3-1. The visitors took a 7-4 lead into halftime.
The defensive units controlled play to open up the second half. Neither team was able to score in the first ten minutes. Despite the start to the quarter, both teams found the back of the net in the final few minutes. Rider broke the ice, before FDU scored a pair to cut into the deficit heading into the fourth.

Riley Eaton opened the final period with a that brought FDU within one for the first time since the second quarter. However, Rider owned the last run as they scored four of the next five foals to secure the 12-8 victory.
