SYRACUSE, N.Y. – FDU women's lacrosse (9-7, 5-3) fell at Le Moyne (12-3, 7-1) by a score of 11-7 on Saturday afternoon. The Knights were paced offensively by
Karly Dillabough, who recorded a hat-trick.
The Knights fell behind early, and struggled to make up ground in the first half. They trailed 5-2 after one period, and scored just once in the second. At halftime they trailed 9-3.
The Dolphins scored two more goals in the first six minutes of the second half to extend their lead to eight. FDU settled in defensively and did not allow a goal the rest of the way. Dillabough and McInaw recorded goals before the period ended to cut the deficit to six. In the fourth period,
Mia Devino scored a goal to extend FDU's run to 3-0. Just minutes later, Dillabough completed the hat-trick and made the score 11-7.
No teams found the back of the net in the final 6:50 of play as Le Moyne secured the win.
Outside of Dillabough, the Knights found most of their offense from Devino. She scored two goals and tallied one assist.
By the end of the game, FDU had only been outshot by one (30-31) and actually placed one more shot on goal than Le Moyne (18-17).
It was a clean effort from FDU as they committed just seven turnovers, and were even in draw controls (10-10) with their opponent.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Knights will host Wagner next Saturday, April 25, in the regular season finale. The teams will be playing for a spot in the NEC tournament. First draw control is set for 12 p.m.
