BRIDGEWATER, N.J.- The 2022 NEC Championship MVP is back in the spotlight of the conference. After a career performance against LIU, graduate student
Tatijana Fucka was named the NEC/Molten Player of the Week. She is the first Knight this season to collect the recognition.
Fucka, reigning from Bologna, Italy, began her week with an eight-kill showing against Stony Brook, in which she hit .263 and totaled three blocks on the defensive side. This all came in just three-sets of action.
On Friday, Fucka delivered arguably her best-ever performance as a Knight in a crucial NEC battle against LIU. Fucka smashed 18 kills on a stellar .500 hitting percentage in FDU's four-set win. The middle blocker also played a part in stifling the Shark attack with 5 blocks. 18 kills marked a career-high for Fucka in a Knights' uniform.
In total, Fucka averaged 3.71 kills per set and 1.28 blocks per set on the week.
This week was just another part of what has been a strong second-act on the banks of the Hackensack for the former UAB Blazer. Fucka is leading the Knights in both kills per set (2.40) and hitting percentage (.347) on the year.
Fucka and the rest of FDU are back in action this Friday inside the Rothman Center for a matchup against Stonehill. Fans can catch the action beginning on NEC Front Row at 5 p.m.
