HACKENSACK, N.J. — FDU women's volleyball (12-8, 5-1) were resilient, coming out on top over Stonehill (2-19, 1-6) Saturday afternoon (23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20).
The Skyhawks showed some fight after being swept Friday night, making the Knights work for their fifth conference win of the season.
Set 1:
FDU held an early lead, but Stonehill stayed on their heels. Creeping back late into the set, three unforced errors by the Knights gave the Skyhawks the set 25-23.
Set 2:
The Knights came out with some heat behind the arm of Alessia Zampieri, who tallied three consecutive kills, 4-1. Every time Stonehill would begin to find momentum, the Knights had an answer and closed out the set 25-16.
Set 3:
The Skyhawks were not backing down and led for a majority of the set. The Knights behind Ava Deguzman were resilient and got going late in the set, making big time plays and stealing the set from Stonehill 25-23.
Set 4:
FDU and Stonehill would trade points back and forth, but the power of Zampieri who tallied back to back kills would be too much for the Skyhawks to handle, 21-19. The Knights finished the match off a service ace by Kylie Nott, 25-20.
The Stats:
