Hynds Leads Women's XC at CCSU Mini Meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's cross country team finished in 13th place at Friday's CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park. Nine Knights competed on the 3k (1.86 miles) course, which featured 137 runners.

Leading the way for FDU was senior Keyana Hynds (Bronx, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph), who finished in 10:42, good enough for a 40th-place finish. Sophomore Jamie Bono (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) was next for the Knights, as she completed the course in 11:08.

Senior Annemarie Pantke (Bremen, Germany/St. Johannis-Schule) finished five seconds behind Bono, with a time of 11:50, while freshmen Jhanee Sterrett (Queens, N.Y./Boys and Girls ) and Omawattie Singh (Queens, N.Y./Boys and Girls) crossed the finish line in 12:09 and 12:18, respectively.

Rounding out the Knights' times were sophomore Kenesha Brown (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) (12:19) and freshman Caitlin Boyles (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo) (12:35).

FDU will return to action Nov. 2 when it returns to Loretto, Pa. to compete at the Northeast Conference Championships on Immergrun Golf Course, where they finished in fifth place in a 10-team event on Sept. 28.
