NEW BRITAIN, CT – FDU Women's Cross Country finished their 2024 fall season at the NEC Championships on Friday. The team placed 8th out of 9 teams for their best result since the 2019 NEC Championships.
The Knights were led by standout freshman
Isabel Michel, who placed 48th with a time of 20:22.40. Michel's result wraps up a dominant freshman campaign that saw her lead the Knights program as just a rookie runner. Michel will be a name to watch in NEC Cross Country for the next several years.
The Knights top five in the meet were solely composed of freshman runners. Freshmen Isabel Cardona placed 58th, followed by
Briana Reyes in 62nd. Cardona posted a time of 21:33.50, and Reyes with a time of 23:04.30. Two other rookies in
Aisha Williams and
Kayla Smith finished close behind, with Williams in 65th, and Smith in 66th. Williams recorded a time of 23:29.30, and Smith with a time of 23:34.60.
The Knights were rounded out by seniors Dominique and
Jordana Greaux-Gist. Jordana placed 75th with a time of 25:32.20, and Dominique placed 77th with a time of 30:13.80.
The Knights will now look ahead to indoor track season beginning on December 4th with a dual meet at home in Hackensack, N.J.
