NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - FDU Women's Cross Country competed in the Ted Owen Invite at Stanley Quarter Park Saturday afternoon, where freshman
Temiloluwa Adebayo led the Knights to an 8th place finish in the event.
In the meet 90 runners, of Adebayo placed in 63rd by running a time of 20:17.7 in the Women's 5k. Right behind Adebayo was freshman
Mary Daclan who ran a 20:41.0, good for 72nd place in the meet. Filling out the rest of the FDU lineup was freshman Mackenna Calvin, who placed in 83rd, running a time of 23:08.2, and
Aisha Williams, who ran a 24:16.1 to take 84th in the meet.
"I thought it was a strong performance from the women today on a difficult course against tough competition," said the Elia G Stratis Head Coach of Cross Country, Track and Field
Wesley Stephens. "The freshmen led the way for the Knights with Temi and Mary pacing the ladies for the second meet in a row.
MacKenna Calvin had a strong race, running a season best time at Stanley Quarter this afternoon."
UConn took home first in the event, having seven runners place in the top ten. New Hampshire and Lehigh rounded out the top three. Fellow NEC member Wagner placed in fifth, and the host school Central Connecticut State placed in seventh.
The Knights will run next in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Penn. Action from Goodman Cross Country Course will begin at 9 a.m.
