BRONX, N.Y. – FDU Cross Country had a spectacular day at the IC4A Cross Country Championships, with each of the Knights' six runners recording personal bests.
The Knights' women were represented by
Isabel Michel in the race. The freshman has been off to a marvelous start in her FDU career, consistently leading the pack for the Knights. Her performance Friday marked the best of her stellar collegiate career thus far, recording a time of 24:47.09 in the 6000m, placing in 198
th.
The Knights' men also had a terrific day for personal bests, with each of the five runners setting a career mark. FDU was led by junior
Luis Abreu, who recorded a time of 26:24.09 in the 8000m, placing in 127
th for the Knights. He was followed closely by another standout freshman for the Knights in
Kidus Zeleke, who finished in 133
rd with a time of 26:28.07.
The Knights also saw strong performances from their sophomore class.
Trevor Ehrlicher finished in 178
th with a time of 26:59.02,
Brandon Barreto finished in 215
th with a time of 27:41.03, and
Ekuyami Conteh finished in 243
rd with a time of 28:34.04.
Abreu, Zeleke, and Barreto each broke a personal best which they set last week in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, PA.
The Knights will ride their hot performance into the upcoming NEC Championships, which will be held on November 1 in New Britain, Connecticut.
