NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - FDU sophomore
Chase Lopez led the charge for FDU Track and Field team as the Knights competed at the Rutgers Relays in New Brunswick Saturday.
Lopez clocked a new personal best time in the Men's 800 meter run, taking first place with a time of 1:51.34. Fellow sophomore distance runner
Liam Schwabik finished just behind Lopez as Schwabik took fifth place with a time of 1:55.10.
Brandon Barreto was a third Knight to finish in the top ten, as he finished in eighth place with a time of 1:56.10. Those times are new season bests for both Schwabik and Barreto.
Another mainstay in the top of the leaderboards this season has been
Tata Coulibaly at the top of the Women's Hammer Throw, and that trend remained constant at the Rutgers Relays on Saturday as Coulibaly threw a distance of 49.42 meters to take second place in the event. On the men's side of the throwing events, freshman
Jayson Ross recorded a top five finish in the Men's Shot Put event, as Ross took fifth place with a throw of 14.89 meters.
Horizontal jumper
Justice Hicks was another Knight that placed in the top ten, as he leaped a distance of 7.31 meters to notch a seventh place finish in the Men's Long Jump event. That mark in fact is a top 75 mark in the country for Men's Long Jump at the division one level.
The Knights will next compete at the IC4A Championships at the same stadium in New Brunswick. Action from the track is set to start at 9 a.m.
