Ethan Ruffin Named First NEC Field Athlete of the Week of Outdoor Season

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - FDU sophomore high jumper Ethan Ruffin was named the NEC's Field Athlete of the Week, the first of the outdoor track and field season.

Ruffin was tabbed with the award after jumping a new personal best height of 2.17 meters, a number that won the Men's High Jump event at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Ruffin's mark of 2.17 meters marks as the best in the NEC as well as the best in the East Region, a region that contains some of the best high jumpers in the country. Ruffin is coming off an indoor season where he won the NEC Indoor Title in the Men's High Jump, breaking the nearly 20 year old meet record in the process.

In the same release, both Tata Coulibaly and Laila Davis were among the names that were honored with the Prime Performer distinction, as the duo that took first and second place in the NEC Indoor Championships in the Women's Hammer Throw, took two of the top three spots in the Hammer Throw event at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invite last week in Myrtle Beach.

The Knights will be back in action this weekend at the Rider Five Way in Lawrenceville, N.J. Action is set to start at 9 a.m.
