FDU Throwers Take on Rider Five Way Saturday

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - FDU Track and Field had members of the throws squad compete in the Rider Five Way Event Saturday morning into the afternoon in Lawrenceville. 

On the women's side, the Knights were once again led by Tata Coulibaly, who took ninth in the Women's Shot Put event, throwing a distance of 10.95 meters to place inside the top 10. Not far behind Coulibaly was Brianna Ortiz, who hit 10.24 meters on her final attempt to take 16th in the meet.

Ortiz also placed in the top 15 in the Women's Discus event, as she thew a mark of 30.83 meters on her first attempt, which was good for 14th. Laila Davis would be the best Knight in the Women's Discus event however, as she used her final attempt to throw a mark of 31.37 meters to take 12th. 

The dynamic duo of Coulibaly and Davis in the Women's Hammer Throw event once again came out to play, as the pair both finished inside the top five at the meet. Coulibaly threw a mark of 48.30 meters on her last attempt to take third, and Davis hit 45.22 meters on her first attempt to take fourth. Sophomore Camille Ellis also competed in the event and took 13th with a throw of 35.63 meters. 

For the men, freshman Jayson Ross finished in fifth in the Men's Shot Put event, as he threw a distance of 14.02 meters on his first attempt to finish inside the top five. Behind him was another freshman, Everton Bills who hit a distance of 13.39 meters, with a third Knights freshman Justin Banks behind Bills, with a throw of 13.28 meters. 

Two Knights finished in the top six for the Men's Discus event as Darien Cade took fifth, with Bills behind him taking sixth. Cade also impressed in the Men's Hammer Throw event, where he threw a distance of 46.26 meters, which was good for fourth place in the event. Darien Cade was the last Knight to compete in the final event, as he placed sixth in the Men's Javelin. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Knights will head to the METS Championships next Friday April 3rd for their next event at Ichan Stadium in New York, N.Y. Action is set to start at 9 a.m.
