JERSEY CITY, N.J. – FDU Women's Cross Country continued their season with a first place finish over Saint Peter's in their dual meet on Friday. The Knights' youth shined in the meet, helping the team finish in first.
FDU was paced by freshman
Isabel Michel, who posted a time of 12:02. Michel also placed first across the whole meet, to continue what has been a stellar start to her collegiate career. In the Knights' last time out in the UMES Season Opener, Michel finished fifth with a time of 13:09; a time she beat by over a full minute in her second collegiate meet on Friday.
Outside of Michel, the entirety of the Knights' freshmen class has shown strong potential and early success as collegiate athletes. Michel was joined by fellow freshmen
Gabriela Cardona and
Aisha Williams in the top five. Cardona finished second with a time of 12:41, and Williams finished fifth with a time of 13:41.
Fellow newcomers
Briana Reyes and
Kayla Smith also had strong showings, finishing in sixth and seventh respectively to help the Knights cruise to victory.
The exciting young freshman class and the rest of the Knights roster will be back in action on September 21, when they head to New Britain, CT for the Ted Owen Invitiational.
