BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Marina Burzaco, who recorded five points in two matches this week, has been named the NEC Player of the Week. It is the first NEC weekly award of Burzaco's career.
The Spanish forward played a crucial role in FDU's draws against St. John's and Saint Joseph's. Burzaco assisted on the equalizing goal at St. John's on Thursday. When the Knights returned home Sunday, the sophomore recorded her first career brace against the Hawks. Both of her goals came in the match's first 25 minutes.
Burzaco's six points lead all Knights to start the season. This marks a continuation for the Madrid native, who scored five goals and started all 20 matches for FDU as a freshman. This earned her a selection on the All-NEC Rookie Team. She is now up to 18 points through 27 matches of her collegiate career.
The Knights begin conference play at home this Thursday, September 18, at 4 p.m. when they host Delaware State. Catch Burzaco and the rest of FDU on NEC Front Row.
