BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The NEC announced their all-conference teams and major award winners for women's soccer on Wednesday afternoon. The 2025 NEC Regular Season Champion FDU Knights set a program record with six first team selections. The accolades did not stop there, as
Eric Teepe was honored as the Coach of the Year and junior
Laura Martinez was named Midfielder of the Year.
The Knights also earned an All-Rookie selection with goalkeeper
Laia Oller Ramos, who made 31 saves across 17 appearances this season.
Martinez began this season with high expectations after her selection to the United Soccer Coaches Midfielders to Watch List. The Spainard's dependable play and facilitation helped FDU on both ends of the field. She started in every single match for the Knights and logged 80 or more minutes in 14 of those matches. She finished the season with three goals and one assist.
Martinez is the first FDU player to win Midfielder of the Year.
The Knights captured their fourth regular season title under head coach
Eric Teepe as they went through the NEC campaign without a defeat. Coincidentally, their last regular season title came in 2017, the only other time Teepe was named Coach of the Year. Now a two-time award winner, Teepe's squad led the NEC in goals, assists, points and tied for the fewest goals allowed in conference play. The dominant Knights earned points in each of their last 13 matches of the year. All of this earned the squad the #1 seed in the NEC tournament and the right to host Thursday's semifinal and a potential championship.
Last season, FDU matched a program record with four first team selections. With six all-conference nods this season, they smash that record and become third team in NEC history to earn that many first team selections. The first team selections are;
Marina Burzaco,
Katia Cardaba,
Elisa Garcia,
Laura Martinez,
Andrea Ougaard, and
Ana Salas.
It was an incredible year offensively for the Knights as Burzaco (23), Cardaba (17) and Salas (16) all ranked in the top five of points amongst league leaders. Burzaco (9) and Salas (6) finished first and second in assists, while Cardaba ranked third in goals. The three Spaniards were complemented all season long by midfielder
Andrea Ougaard, who started all 19 matches. She scored four goals and five assists, while logging the fifth most minutes on the team.
Sophomore defender
Elisa Garcia anchored FDU's defense all season long. In 11 NEC games the Knights allowed just eight goals. Garcia started every match and led the team in minutes, logging the full 90 in 14 matches.
The Knights will host #4 Central Connecticut in the NEC Semifinal on Thursday, Nov 6, at 4 p.m. Fans can catch the game on NEC Front Row.
