EUGENE, Ore. – Former FDU triple jumper and 2024 Olympian Salif Mane returned to the pit at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships on Sunday. The 2024 civil engineering graduate once again proved he belongs among the nation's elite. With a second-place finish, Mane secured his spot on Team USA for the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Mane's sixth and final attempt marked a season-best 17.50m, tying him with Russell Robinson at the top of the leaderboard. However, Robinson's second-best jump of 17.06m edged Mane's, giving Robinson the national title.
A top-two finish was all Mane needed to book his ticket to Tokyo for Worlds, which begin on September 13. This marks the third consecutive year that Mane will represent Team USA at the World Athletics Championships. It is also his second straight selection to the senior national team, following an appearance on the U-23 squad two years ago.
It was a strong bounce-back performance for a healthy Mane, who finished sixth at the USATF Indoor Championships in February. The former Knight returned to the podium at Hayward Field in Eugene—the site of both his NCAA national title and Olympic Trials gold medal.

Sunday added another chapter to the growing Mane–Robinson rivalry. The two young American triple jumpers have shared the national spotlight in recent seasons. Last June, Mane edged out the Miami Hurricane by one centimeter to win the 2024 NCAA Outdoor National Championship. He then topped Robinson again at the Olympic Trials and at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Both continue to lead the way as Team USA's premier triple jumpers.
