TEANECK, N.J.- Behind five goals from
Karly Dillabough, the FDU Knights earned their first win of 2024 with a 14-10 victory over Delaware State. The Knights improve to 1-8 overall and move to 1-2 in NEC play. This marks the Hornets' first loss of their NEC campaign.
Dillabough was joined in the scoring column by six other Knights, including three others who had multi-goal days.
Lindsey Felician, coming off a five-goal outing herself, found the back of the net two more times in this one. She now has seven goals this year, surpassing her 2023 total of six.
Brielle McInaw (10) and
Riley Eaton (13) each came away from the game with two goals apiece. After not scoring against Iona on 2/24, McInaw has ripped off goals in five-straight games, scoring a total of seven in that span. Speaking of goal streaks,
Jordan Santana (10) has quietly scored in all nine games this season. Today, she scored one and displayed her elite playmaking with four assists.
FDU worked quickly on the offensive end in the early going. Dillabough scored her first of the day just 88 seconds into the game by way of a free position shot. Felician and McInaw scored on the next two FDU shots and the Knights were off and running with a 3-1 lead not even five minutes into the game.
Dillabough and Felician added two free position goals before the first quarter ended and the Knights took a 5-3 lead into the second period.
In one of their best stretches of the season, the Knights exploded for five goals in the first 7:28 of the second quarter. This was sparked by
Addie Weidner finding twine for her first-career goal. This stretch put the Knights lead at 10-4.
Delaware State garnered some momentum with three unanswered goals and seemingly cut their deficit in half heading into the break. However, Dillabough hammered her third of the day with 12 seconds remaining in the half, securing her first-career hat-trick, and pushing the Knights lead to 11-7.
FDU followed up this scoring outburst with a shutdown third period on the defensive end. They surrendered zero goals in the third and stretched their lead to six. The 13
th goal was scored by
Julia Corry (3), who has now scored in back-to-back games.
Dillabough scored her fifth and final goal of the game, and the 11
th of her season, with 9:26 remaining in the fourth. The Knights put on cruise control the rest of the way and coasted to the 14-10 win.
Skyler Goodman, the nation's leader in saves, made eight of them today. She sits at 94 on the year.
