RADFORD, Va. – Radford defeated FDU by a score of 13-10 in Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. The Knights have now dropped their first eight matches of 2024.
Six different Knights marked the goal column in this one, but none hammered it quite as hard as
Lindsey Felician. The sophomore midfielder set a career-high with five goals, all but one of which was unassisted. While this is the most goals a Knight has scored in a game this year, it also nearly matches Felician's 2023 goal total of six.
Julia Corry (2
nd),
Brielle McInaw (8
th),
Karly Dillabough (6),
Nora Codianni (8
th), and
Jordan Santana (9
th) tallied the other five goals.
Radford jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the Knights stormed back with three unanswered. The teams traded blows a few more times and the first half ended with Radford holding a slim 5-4 lead.
The first seven minutes of quarter number three made the difference in this tightly contested contest. Radford struck for the first four goals of the second half and took a commanding 9-4 lead. A resilient Knights squad was able to cut the lead down to two on four separate occasions but could never come any closer as Radford closed out a 13-10 victory.
Not much separated these teams in the box score. Both sides took 26 shots on goal, FDU won one more draw control, and Radford picked up three more groundballs. FDU even won the turnover battle 14-10.
The inability to capitalize on free position shots hurt the Knights' comeback efforts. FDU scored twice on eight free positions, while Radford cashed in three times on just five free shots. Codianni and McInaw were the two Knights able to find the back of the net on their attempts.
Skylar Goodman made 13 saves in the loss. She had made 86 saves on the year and has a save percentage of .396.
