TEANECK, N.J.- Despite taking a 6-2 lead over La Salle in the early stages, FDU could not secure their first win of the season on Friday afternoon. Instead, the Explorers left University Stadium with a 19-10 victory in their back pocket. The Knights are now 0-3 in 2024.
La Salle scored the first two goals of the game and seemed to be in a comfortable position early. However, FDU quickly answered back with a 6-0 run sparked by a goal from
Maeve Chamberlin. The Knights' scoring slowed down in the second quarter as La Salle slowly clawed back and eventually the Explorers were able to tie things at 8-8. Before the half ended, the Explorers were in front 11-9.
La Salle dominated the terms of possession in the second half and consistently put space between themselves and the Knights. By the end of the third quarter, their lead had grown to six and they put the finishing touches on the 19-10 win in the final 15 minutes. The Knights were held to just one goal in the second half.
Draw controls were a big reason that La Salle was able to flip the switch. They won 11 of 12 controls in the second period and were able to out control FDU 22-10 on draws for the game.
Riley Eaton matched a career-high with three goals, a mark she has now hit three times as a Knight. The sophomore has scored in all three games so far and leads the team with six goals.
Jordan Santana and
Brielle McInaw also tallied goals to extend their goal streaks to three games.
Nora Codianni and
Karly Dillabough continue to showcase their promise as the pair of freshmen combined for three goals today. Dillabough logged the first two-goal game of the year. Codianni found the twine and has also scored in all three contests in 2024.
On the defensive side of things,
Laura Mancinelli disrupted the Explorers' attack by causing two turnovers and picking up one ground ball.
Skylar Goodman made eight saves in the match.
