Twice as Nice! Van O'Linda Captures Second NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week Crown

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – FDU continues to clean up in the NEC women's volleyball weekly awards. For the second straight time, senior Emily Van O'Linda was tabbed the NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week.  
 
Van O'Linda helped the Knights stretch their win streak to 12 with 34 digs across two matches against Central Connecticut. In the weekend's opening match, the New York native posted 14 digs as FDU held the Blue Devils to a hitting percentage in the negatives. The next day Van O'Linda collected 20 digs, which is the sixth time she has hit the 20-dig mark ion a match this year.
 
At 4.13 digs per set, the FDU libero currently sits third in the NEC. She has anchored a Knights' defense that is holding opponents to a .150 hitting percentage. This makes them the second-best defense in the league in this department.
 
O'Linda has amassed 318 digs on the year.
 
This is already the fifth week this season that FDU has had a NEC/Molten Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, or Rookie of the Week.
 
The Knights will look to continue their historic win streak this weekend in Loretto, Pa. FDU and Saint Francis are set for a two-match slate beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. Fans can catch the game on NEC Front Row.
