BROOKLYN, N.Y. - FDU Women's Volleyball fell to the Saint Francis Red Flash on Friday afternoon by a final score of 3-2 in a sensational volleyball match at the Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn.

The Knights outhit the Red Flash in the NEC Semifinal, .244 to .179, but ended up dropping fifth and deciding set in extra points, 18-16. Seniors Kylie Nott (15 kills) and Giorgia Vaschetti (11 kills) led the Knights in kills in their final collegiate game. 

The Red Flash jumped out to a quick start, grabbing the opening set of the match 25-23. The Knights stormed back to force two late Saint Francis timeouts, but the Knights couldn't come up with the crucial points, and the Red Flash were able to fend off FDU in the first set. 

The second set continued the back and forth battle between the two sides, but the Red Flash were able to top the Knights once again, by a 25-18 count in the second set. The Red Flash held the Knights to an even zero hitting percentage to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match. 

With their back against the wall, facing elimination, the Knights hit a match best .417 in the third set to cut the Red Flash lead in half, taking the third set 25-19. More of the same would continue in the fourth stanza, as the Knights bested the Red Flash once again by a 25-19 score, to tie the match, and send it to a fifth set, now with both teams facing elimination. 

The Knights jumped out quick in the final set, opening the fifth with an ace, and then proceeding to rattle off two more points to force an early SFU timeout. The Red Flash were able to draw even, as the two teams traded points as the match went down the stretch. 

Both teams were able to fend off match point by their opponent twice, before Saint Francis was able to grab the two decisive points to best the Knights in what was the best volleyball game of the NEC season.
