HACKENSACK, N.J. - Head coach
David Nguyen has added
Kirsten Badowski to the women's volleyball staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2023-24 season.
Â
"We are very excited to welcome Kirsten as our next graduate assistant," Nguyen said. "Kirsten garnered a wealth of knowledge during her years as a collegiate volleyball player. Her personality is infectious, which will translate directly to our team culture. Kirsten will be a great fit for FDU!"
Â
Badowski will graduate today with a 4.0 GPA from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she was a four-year member of the women's volleyball team and played one year of beach volleyball for the Seahawks. The 6'2 pin hitter from Cleveland, Ohio, was an integral part of the team and served as the team captain.
Â
"After four years of being a student-athlete at UNCW, I have gained experience in all the trials and triumphs of college athletics," Badowski said. "I am looking forward to building relationships with the players and being able to guide them through those times. Whether it is in volleyball, academics, or life, I am here to empower these women during this exciting chapter of their life."
Â
On top of performing at the Division I level, Badowski has coached three summer camps and multiple clinics, coaching over 1,500 K-12 players, and is excited to fill the role as a graduate assistant coach at FDU.
Â
"I am so grateful for this opportunity to work with Coach David," Badowski said. "It felt like a perfect fit from the start, and I am blessed to be able to start my coaching career under his leadership and with this team."
Â
Badowski earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in fine Arts and Language Arts with a minor in digital Art and will pursue a master's of arts degree in education with a specialization in reading and literacy at FDU.
Â
Badowski is set to start with the Knights in August. "I have wanted to be a coach my whole life and am eager for the fall season to take off! Let's win another championship! Go Knights!" She said.
