Four Knights Earn All-NEC Accolades

BRIDGEWATER, N.J.- The FDU Knights Women's Soccer Team proudly announces that four of its athletes have earned All-NEC accolades.

Katia Cárdaba the standout player from Madrid, Spain, showcased exceptional performances that have earned her well-deserved recognition in the NEC. Cárdaba, proved herself as a key player in critical moments throughout the NEC season. Her contributions included two game-winning goals and a total of five goals scored during NEC play. With an additional assist, Cárdaba accumulated a total of 11 points, securing her position as the second-highest point scorer on the team this season. In recognition of her outstanding efforts, Katia earned First Team All-NEC and All-Rookie accolades in her first season at FDU.

Ana Salas another talented player hailing from Madrid, Spain, found herself on the Second Team All-NEC. Salas displayed immense skill leading the team with 13 points, including five goals and three assists. What sets Salas apart is her ability to shine in high-pressure moments. Her talent for scoring in crucial situations was evident in her two game-winning goals against Sacred Heart and Le Moyne, which played a pivotal role in the Knights' victories this season. Salas' remarkable performances and her significant impact on the team have rightfully earned her a well-deserved spot on the All-Rookie NEC team as well as Second Team All-NEC in her inaugural season as a Knight.

Andrea Ougaard, hailing from Roskilde, Denmark, has achieved Second Team All-NEC honors due to her significant contribution to the Knights' success this year. Ougaard showcased her versatility and adaptability as she seamlessly transitioned from a midfielder to center back during the season. Ougaard helped the Knights keep four clean sheets throughout the NEC season while also recording two assists and scoring a huge goal against Howard which propelled the Knights to victory. Her efforts throughout the season earned her first All-NEC accolade since joining the Knights on the banks of the Hackensack.

The final NEC accolade was awarded to Laura Martinez who joined the Knights from Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Her impactful contributions from the midfield position significantly influenced the team's play style. Martinez played 1494 minutes this year while notching two goals and an assist. Her presence on the field is always felt as she controls the flow of play from the midfield position. Martinez brought a calming presence to this Knights squad with her quality on the ball and range of passing. Her outstanding performances were enough to land her on the All-Rookie NEC squad in her first season as a Knight.

The entire FDU community congratulates Katia Cárdaba, Ana Salas, Andrea Ougaard, and Laura Martinez for their exceptional achievements and looks forward to witnessing their continued success on the field.
