BRIDGEWATER, Nj.- Graduate student Rebeka Fucka was named the NEC/Molten Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after a career-best performance against Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut this weekend. She is the first Knight this season to collect the recognition.
Fucka, reigning from Bologna, Italy, began her week with an impressive match against Sacred Heart to defeat the previously unbeaten team with three solo blocks and six block assists. She also picked up eight kills and three aces.
On Saturday, Fucka delivered arguably her best-ever performance as a Knight in a five-set battle against CCSU. Fucka smashed 15 kills on a stellar .560 hitting percentage, her highest of the season. The middle blocker also had four blocks. In total, Fucka averaged 3.71 kills per set and 1.28 blocks per set on the week.
Fucka is leading the Knights in solo blocks (18), block assists (67), total blocks (75), and blocks per set (0.94.)
Fucka and the rest of FDU are back in action this Saturday in a match against Long Island University at Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Fans can catch the action on NEC Front Row at 5 p.m.
