Women's Soccer Unveils 2022 Schedule

The Knights begin the campaign on August 18 at Hofstra

TEANECK, N.J. - FDU women's soccer's 2022 schedule was unveiled Sunday morning, nearly three weeks before preseason training begins. The 22nd season in program history will kickoff on August 18 at Hofstra.

"We are excited for this upcoming season, with a strong returning core and some exciting newcomers we are hoping we can find a way to take another step in the NEC," said head coach Eric Teepe. "We are preparing for that challenge with some tough out of conference games against top teams like Virginia, Monmouth, Navy, Hofstra and Saint Joesph's, just to name a few."

He added, "Hopefully this can propel us in the battle we will have in the NEC!"

Following the season-opening match on Long Island against the Pride, FDU continues the road trip with three-straight away fixtures, taking on Army (Aug. 21), Monmouth (Aug. 25) and Virginia (Aug. 28).

Hitting the brand-new playing surface at University Stadium for the first time in 2022, FDU welcomes Saint Joseph's on September 2 after the two sides battled to a scoreless draw in double overtime last season in Philadelphia. The homestand rolls on with Navy (Sep. 4), Rider (Sep. 8) and Binghamton (Sep. 11). Teepe's Knights begin their quest for the second Northeast Conference tournament championship on September 15 with a trip to our nation's capital to battle associate member Howard.

The Burgundy and Blue then travel to the Keystone State for an NEC meeting with Saint Francis U (Pa.) on September 22. Returning home for two matches, FDU takes on St. Francis Brooklyn on September 25 and Wagner (Sep. 29) on the banks of the Hackensack. Before continuing league play, FDU heads to Philadelphia for a non-conference matchup with Penn on October 3 followed by back-to-back home games in the NEC against Sacred Heart (Oct. 9) and LIU (Oct. 13).

Down the home stretch of the 18-match slate, FDU heads back to New Britain, Conn. (Oct. 16) looking for redemption after falling to Central Connecticut in last season's NEC Championship final. One final home contest follows the battle with the Blue Devils as the Knights are scheduled to welcome Merrimack to Teaneck on October 23 before concluding the regular season on October 27 at Stonehill in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Skyhawks joined the NEC on July 1, 2022 from the NCAA Division II NE-10 league.

FDU returners five all-conference honorees from last season in First Team All-NEC members Naemi Hausen, Aitana Martínez-Montoya and Malene Nielsen; the latter two were also named to the All-Rookie Team. Martinez-Montoya, who hails from Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Spain, was named the league's Rookie of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year while Nielsen, a Juelsminde, Denmark product, took home the NEC Goalkeeper of the Year award. Joining the pair of rookies in earning postseason honors last year were Paula Ruess and Madelyn Robbins with the pair of seniors earning slots on the Second Team All-NEC.

The 2022 Northeast Conference Championship is scheduled to begin on October 30 with the semifinal taking place on November 4, with the championship final being held on November 6 at the site of the high seed.

Supporters can catch every home match, as well as select away contests in NEC play, on the Conference's official digital network, NEC Front Row (necfrontrow.com) and the NEC On the Run app, available on the App Store, Google Play, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
