Men's Volleyball Welcomes Two Additional Members of Inaugural Signing Class

HACKENSACK, N.J. - Fairleigh Dickinson men's volleyball coach Karl France announced Tuesday two additional members to his team's inaugural roster.

Santiago La Jara and Luke Lowry join Jack Lydon, Diego Diaz, Artem Vetrov and Jose Angarita as the program's first-ever student-athletes.

La Jara, a middle attacker from Lima, Peru, joins the Knights on the hardwood after beginning his volleyball journey on the beach. He has represented his home country in various international competitions.

On La Jara's volleyball acumen and successes, France remarked, "Santiago has a wide range of experiences and the international caps he has under his belt will help us immensely. Playing for your country is a pressure situation so I feel whatever we see on the other side of the net will be something Santiago will be more than comfortable."

Lowry, an outside hitter from La Conner, Wash., arrives "on the Hackensack" from the Space Needle Volleyball Foundation, a club program in his home state. During his career he was named All-Pacific Northwest and also led his team to a second place finish at the Far Western Bid Tourney in 2019. With his skill demonstrated on the court, Lowry was selected to be a participant in the U.S. National Team Development Program. He will study psychology at FDU.

"Luke trains with good friend Mark West and All-Americans Matt West and Maddison Bugg at his club," said France. "His family has two volleyball coaches so the sport is in his blood. He also travels 90 minutes to two hours each practice to train so his dedication to get better is very high. He will be a great Knight."
