Knights Win Program-Record 13th Match, Extend Winning Streak to Seven

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU (7-2, 13-9) won their seventh consecutive match on Friday in a three-set sweep over UMES (4-5, 14-9). The Knights have now set a program record with 13 wins. Seven straight wins also marks a program record.

The first set was competitive with UMES holding a 24-20 lead late. The Knights called for a timeout and unleashed a 6-0 run that gave them a 26-24 victory in the first. This spurt was ignited by Andrew Michael behind the service line. Laydon Biro led the attack with four kills. As a team, the Knights hit just .286 but held UMES to a.273.

The teams split the first 18 points of the second set with nine apiece. The Knights then produced a 5-1 spurt that put them in control. UMES would come within one late in the set, but steady play from the Knights sealed it with a score of 25-22. The teams combined for seven blocks in the set, while neither offense hit above .233. The Knights, however, did launch three service aces.

FDU handles business efficiently in the third set. The Knights built a 17-12 lead before UMES cut the deficit 22-21. FDU responded by winning the next four points to complete the sweep, with a 25-22 win in the third.

Jamal Ellis and Biro both finished with 14 kills to pace the Knights. Randy Delgado has 11 digs.
