KANSAS CITY, MO. – Fairleigh Dickinson University senior goaltender
Amanda Fitzgerald was named to the Division I Third Team Scholar All-East Region Team as announced by the United Soccer Coaches Association on Monday afternoon.
The Holbrook, N.Y. native earned the accolade for her 3.89 GPA in Business Administration. The senior has a concentration in Information Systems. Fitzgerald has also been named to the Northeast Conference Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2016, 2017, and 2018 over the course of her career.
Fitzgerald is the first Knight to be named to the All-East Region Scholar team since Jessi Reinhardt in 2017.
On the field, the senior netminder helped lead the Knights to the NEC Championship Game and post a 9-6-6 overall record. In her senior season, she was named to the NEC All-Tournament Team and the All-NEC First Team. Fitzgerald earned NEC Defensive Player of the Week three times this season. She was also named to the NEC All-Tournament Team in 2016 and 2018. The netminder was also tabbed as an All-NEC Performer in 2017.
Fitzgerald broke the program record for career shutouts with 19 and had eight in her senior season. The senior also shattered the single-season record for goals against average by only allowing 0.76 goals per contest. She also tallied 98 saves, which was good for a save percentage of .860.
The senior will graduate in May holding the program's saves record (392), save percentage record (.784), and shutout record. The netminder recorded 29 career wins in goal, which ranks second in program history.
