Women's Soccer Faces CCSU Friday Night

TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team travels to Connecticut hoping to earn its first Northeast Conference win of the season, facing Central Connecticut State at 6 p.m.

The match will be streamed live on NEC FrontRow and live stats will be provided by CCSU.

ENTERING THE KNIGHT
The Knights (2-6-3, 0-0-1 NEC) started NEC play with a 1-1 draw at Mount St. Mary's this past Sunday. Sophomore Sofia Albertsson netted her second goal of the season in the 25th minute to give the Knights a 1-0 lead through halftime, but the Mountaineers scored in the early minutes of the second period, and neither team found the back of the net again the rest of the way. Junior goalkeeper Amanda Fitzgerald recorded five saves in the match.

STELLAR SOPHOMORES
Albertsson and fellow sophomore Viktorija Miseljic are leading the Knights through 11 matches in goals and points. Miseljic leads the team with three goals and seven points, while Albertsson has five points (two goals, one assist). Both players also rank first and second in shots taken (Albertsson 19, Miseljic 17) through 11 matches. Through 32 career matches, Albertsson has accrued 27 points on 11 goals and five assists, while Miseljic has totaled 24 points on nine goals and six assists.

AROUND THE NEC
Each of the nine teams in the NEC have played one conference game entering Friday, with Robert Morris representing the only school with two conference matches completed. CCSU, Bryant, Robert Morris and Saint Francis (Pa.) each earned wins in their first league matches, with FDU and Mount St. Mary's earning one point each for tying their match.

SERIES SCORE
CCSU leads the all-time series against FDU, 13-6, but since 2010, FDU has won five of the eight meetings, including each of the past three matchups. The Knights defeated the Blue Devils last year at home, 1-0, on a goal by Albertsson in the 36th minute. However, the Blue Devils' soccer field has not been kind to the Knights, as CCSU has won seven of nine meetings in New Britain. FDU won the last time the two teams met in Connecticut, 2-0, in 2016. Interestingly, the winner of the past nine meetings between the two squads shut out the loser.

SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE
The Blue Devils enter the match with an NEC-best record of 7-1-2, with a 4-0-2 record at home thus far. CCSU defeated Robert Morris, 1-0, in its NEC opener Sunday on a goal by senior Charlotte Maurer in the 27th minute. Maurer leads the Blue Devils with five goals and 10 points this season. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Cavanaugh, who has won NEC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season, leads the league with a 0.48 goals-against average and has 41 saves in 940 minutes played. Entering the season, CCSU was picked third in the NEC preseason poll.
