Women's Soccer Heads to Hartford Sunday

TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team concludes the non-conference portion of the 2018 schedule on the road Sunday when it takes on Hartford at 1 p.m.

ENTERING THE KNIGHT
The Knights (2-6-1) battled from behind but could not complete the comeback in its latest outing, resulting in a 2-1 defeat at La Salle. Sophomore Viktorija Miseljic scored her third goal in four matches on a penalty kick opportunity with 14 minutes remaining, and the Knights presented with three chances to equalize in the final 10 minutes. Each of the shots, however, missed the target, allowing the Explorers to hold on for the win.
 
SCORING THREAT
Miseljic leads the Knights with three goals this season, all of which have come in the last four matches. The sophomore also leads the team with seven points and 16 total shots. For her career, Miseljic has scored nine goals and totaled 24 points.
 
SERIES SCORE
Hartford leads the all-time series with Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-3-1. The Knights have had the edge in recent contests, winning three of the previous four meetings including last year's 3-1 victory in Teaneck. The Knights have not fared as well when traveling to West Hartford, with the Hawks winning three of five matchups at home to go with one tie.
 
SCOUTING HARTFORD
The Hawks (7-1) are off to the program's best start since 2011 and have won each of their last five matches. The Hawks most recently defeated fellow Northeast Conference foe Wagner Thursday night, with junior Skylar Vitiello scoring a first-half goal for the 1-0 win. Hartford averages 2.75 goals per game and has totaled 20 assists already as a team. Sophomore Gabriela Gamory leads the Hawks with 11 points (five goals, one assist), while junior Kaila Lozada has accrued nine points and leads the team with five assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Maia Perez has played every minute in net for the Hawks, allowing six goals in 720 minutes for a 0.75 goals-against-average while saving 14 shots.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
After Sunday's contest, the Knights shift focus to the NEC, starting with road contests against Mount St. Mary's (September 23) and Central Connecticut State (September 28). FDU plays its first home NEC match against Robert Morris on Sunday, September 30, at 4 p.m.
