HACKENSACK, N.J. – A weekend in the Pacific Northwest awaits the Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team as the Knights visit Gonzaga and Eastern Washington.
LAST TIME OUT
Fairleigh Dickinson came back from 2-0 down to tie Buffalo 2-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Sofia Albertsson and
Elma Kolenovic scored the second half goals for the Knights. Albertsson scored in the 56th minute, and Kolenovic added the equalizer in the 86th.
SERIES SCORE
Both games this weekend – Friday at Gonzaga and Sunday at Eastern Washington – will be the first time that Fairleigh Dickinson will play either school in women's soccer.
SCOUTING GONZAGA
The Bulldogs sit at 5-1-1 (.786) on the year and are 3-0-1 on their home field at Luger Field. Gonzaga has scored the most goals of any team in the West Coast Conference (16) and has allowed the second fewest (5) so far, this season. India Jencks paces the attack for the Bulldogs with 10 points (5G). Sophia Viviano and Jodi Ulkekul have dished out three assists to share the team lead. Isabel Jones has played all but 36 minutes in goal and sports a 0.73 GAA and a .828 save percentage.
SCOUTING EASTERN WASHINGTON
The Eagles sit at 4-4 (.500) on the season after going 1-1 last week against Gonzaga (W, 2-1) and Cal State Northridge (L, 2-0). Allison Raniere and Chloe Williams share the team lead with five points (2G, 1A). Aimie Inthoulay leads the squad with two assists. Eastern Washington has played three different goalies this season; Hadley Bezon, Kelsee Winston, and Emily Busselman. Busselman has played the most minutes (315) and is 3-1 on the year.
NEC ACCLAIM
Sofia Albertsson became the second player for Fairleigh Dickinson to earn Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors – joining
Viktorija Miseljic. Albertsson scored twice last weekend for the Knights up in Western New York.
TOP IN POINTS ALL-TIME
Elma Kolenovic's goal against Buffalo moved the junior into a tie for ninth on the career points list with 39. Kolenovic tied Esther Rochon '15.
GETTING LESS & LESS
Amanda Fitzgerald lowered her GAA for the fourth straight game after allowing two goals on Sunday at Buffalo. The sophomore's GAA sits at 1.76 currently, more than a half a goal better than it was after the game at William & Mary back on August 24.
TOP 5 IN NEC
Kolenovic and Miseljic are both in the top five of the Northeast in total points this season. Kolenovic is T3 with eight and Misljic is T5 with seven in 2017 so far. Kolenovic is tied for the league lead with four goals this season.
Fitzgerald is T3 in the NEC with 33 saves so far this season.
