HACKENSACK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team returns to action after a week off when they face Colgate on Thursday in Hamilton, New York and then travel to Hartford on Sunday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Knights went on the road and lost 5-0 to Rider last Thursday night. The Knights controlled the ball and possession in the opening 25 minutes but could not get the opening goal. Rider then scored five in the second half — including three from the 73rd - 78th minutes to close the game out.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between Colgate and Fairleigh Dickinson. The Knights are 5-5 all-time against current members of the Patriot League. Hartford owns a 2-5-1 record against Fairleigh Dickinson all-time. The Knights have won the past two meetings (1-0 in Teaneck in 2015 and 4-3 in OT in Hartford in 2014). The two sides have met every year since 2011.
SCOUTING COLGATE
The Raiders come into the tilt on Thursday with a 1-0-2 record on the season and are coming off a win down in Baton Rouge over LSU on Monday by the score of 2-1. Colgate tied its first two games of the season 1-1 against Syracuse and New Hampshire. Abby Sotomayor has scored twice and leads the team in that category. Sophia Lederer and Ginny Whitman each provided an assist this season. Kelly Chiavaro has played all 310 minutes in goal and has allowed three goals total.
SCOUTING HARTFORD
The Hawks will play at Siena on Thursday before hosting the Knights on Sunday at 2 p.m. Hartford sits at 2-1 on the season with wins over Delaware State and Manhattan while suffering a loss to NJIT. Six different players have scored a goal for Hartford so far this season. Ashley Claud leads the team with three points (1G, 1A). Jessica Jurg has played all 270 minutes in goal while allowing two goals for the Hawks.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN…
Fairleigh Dickinson is in the midst of eight straight games to open the 2016 season. Dating back to the start of 2014, the Knights are 13-10-1 in true road contests.
KNIGHTS AMONG NEC LEADERS
Sophomore Elma Kolenovic (Manhattan, N.Y./NYC Lab) is tied for the Northeast Conference lead with six points and three goals so far in 2016. She shares the lead with Megan Fritz of Wagner. Jessi Reinhardt (Friedberg, Germany/Burggymansium), Giselles Perez (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) and Dara Battistoni (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) are all tied for second in the NEC with one assist on the season.
