Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the second day of the 2015 Liberty Invitational presented by La Quinta Inns & Suites. The Knights fell to the host Liberty Flames in the first match and then to UNC Greensboro later in the afternoon.
Sophomore
Alex Lolland (Auburn, Calif./Del Oro) finished the tournament with a team-high 23 kills.
Senior setter
Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) was named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance over the three matches. She totaled 48 assists, 15 digs and three services aces, while playing all 10 sets for FDU.
FDU at LIBERTY (L, 3-1)The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team fell in four sets to Liberty on Saturday afternoon. The Knights are now 1-1 at the 2015 Liberty Invitational presented by La Quinta Inns & Suites.
The Knights fell in the opening set (25-18), but rallied for a 25-23 comeback victory in the second set. Liberty followed with wins in sets three (25-14) and four (25-12) to take the match.
The Knights first lead of the afternoon (20-19) came late in the second set reversing Liberty's momentum. Liberty remained in the set, but kills by both Lolland and junior
Caroline Laton (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) helped seal the second set victory and tie up the match. Lolland and Laton would finish the contest with nine and seven kills, respectively.
Liberty would take early leads in the third and fourth sets before pulling away for wins.
Freshman
Savanna Wray (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) concluded the game tallying a team high 12 digs. Sophomore
Carly O'Sullivan (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) also contributed 11 digs in the match as well as racking in eight kills.
FDU vs. UNC Greensboro (L, 3-0)The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team fell to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in its final match of the 2015 Liberty Invitational presented by La Quinta Inns & Suites. The Knights went 1-2 in tournament play.
O'Sullivan recorded seven kills on a team-high 24 attacks on the evening. Lolland connected on six kills and sophomore
Taylor Wyckoff (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) and freshman
Rebecca Sabol (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) each added 4 kills.
Senior
Corey Lostetter (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) posted 15 digs and Butler chipped in 7 digs along with a team-high 12 assists.
The Knights are back in action on Friday, Sep. 4 in a non-conference matchup at Lafayette slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
