Box Score NORWICH, Conn. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team fell to Sacred Heart on Friday afternoon by a score of 10-0. The loss drops the Knights (21-25) into a 12 p.m. elimination game with Bryant, while the Pioneers (22-29-1) advance to the championship game at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
The Knights were limited to just two hits with
Shane Siebler (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) singling up the middle in the sixth to break up SHU starter Jason Foley's perfect game bid. Senior
Riley Moonan (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North) added a base hit in the seventh.
Foley tossed a complete game two-hit shutout to earn his third win of the season. He allowed two hits and no walks, while striking out six. He faced just 29 hitters, two over the minimum, in the contest.
Senior
Joe Borelli (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan ) allowed four runs in the second inning and was replaced by
Ryan McGrath (Lansingburgh, N.Y./Lansingburgh) with one out in the third inning. McGrath was lifted after allowing a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Junior
Jose DeLeon (Paterson, N.J./Eastside) came on and pitched three innings while limiting the Pioneers to a single run. He was replaced by senior
Anthony Calise (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) who pitched the seventh inning and senior
Yonah Perline (Dix Hills, N.Y./St. Dominic) tossed the eighth. Senior
Eric Snyder (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) closed out the game pitching the ninth inning.
Borelli falls to 2-7 on the season with the loss.
The Knights will play Bryant at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights will be designated as the home team for the game.
