TEANECK, N.J. - FDU sophomore right fielder
Hunter Ray was named a First Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association, per a release Friday. Ray was also named to numerous other All-American teams by publications such as Baseball America, Perfect Game, and the National College Baseball Writers of America.
Ray garnered the attention from several major baseball news outlets, finishing on numerous All-American teams, most of which being on the third team in the outfield, making him one of the ten best outfielders in all of college baseball in the 2026 season.
Ray finished the 2026 campaign starting and playing in all 55 games for the Knights, ending the season with a .345 batting average, coupled with 32 home runs and 81 runs driven in. Both the number of home runs as well as the RBI's are NEC single season records. Ray scored 72 runs, a figure that was top 20 in the country, as well as drawing 48 walks, another number that ranked among the nation's best.
Ray needed the 2026 season with a 1.276 OPS, which ranks top ten in the country. Ray is the first All-American First Teamer in the history of FDU Baseball, as well as the NEC.
Ray was on a team that broke all sorts of records as a club including single-season wins, single-season conference wins, single-season home runs, single-season runs, among many others that he attributed to. The sophomore was also named to the All-NEC tournament team as he hit three additional homers in the tournament, leading the Knights to the NEC Tournament Championship game.
